Today In Stoke: Last chance for Copper Mountain's cheap Snow Day Pass

"Do you have any idea what the street value of this mountain is?"

​If you'd bought Copper Mountain's Snow Day pass back when we first told you about it, you could have already had 15 powder days for the price of a single day lift ticket at some other nearby resorts.

The deal -- $99 for a season pass good any day Copper has more than 4 inches of new snow, plus guaranteed access on February 6 and April 15, just because, and a couple of $59 buddy passes for good measure -- expires on Thursday, January 13. It's still well worth picking up: There's snow in the forecast for Summit County almost every day this week.

Copper's $99 Snow Day Pass deal expires on January 13

​"The Snow Day Pass has been a huge hit," says Copper spokesman David Roth. "It's pretty much been dumping up here ever since we first offered it."

Check the homepage at www.CopperColorado.com to see if they're reporting enough snow to call it a Snow Day (Copper's marketing campaign calls it "Four inches of pure love") so you know whether or not to call in a sick day.

My family and I took a few runs with Roth this week, and it's not just hyperbole: My kids were in up over their knees on Sunday, and we were making powder turns all over the mountain together. As my daughter, the littlest snowboarder we saw all day, put it after getting a face-full of fluffy stuff: "Now that's what I call freshies!"

Indeed. And with single-day adult lift tickets at Copper running at $74 and tickets at some other Summit County ski areas pushing past the $100 mark for the first time ever, the Snow Day Pass is probably the single best left ticket deal going at any mountain in Colorado.

"We average about 42 snow days a year, so this is a great bargain," says Roth. "Unless you hate snow."
