Today in Stoke: Erik Weihenmayer previews Soldiers to the Summit at Denver Athletic Club

Erik Weihenmayer has climbed the Seven Summits, including Mt. Everest, and his resume of adventurous accomplishments also includes such feats as finishing the Leadville 100 on a tandem bike. Oh, and also: He's blind. Tonight at 6 p.m., the author of Touch the Top of the World and The Adversity Advantage will be sharing his vision and previewing his upcoming film Soliders to the Summit at the Denver Athletic Club, 1325 Glenarm Place, alongside double-amputee climber Neil Duncan (who recently made the summit at Kilimanjaro).

Soldiers to the Summit documents Weihenmayer's 2010 Himalayan expedition as one of ten climbing experts leading 11 wounded war veterans to the 20,075 foot summit of Lobuche in Nepal.

At $120/person, tickets for tonight's event are as steep as some of Weihenmayer's famous climbs, but it's for a good cause: The event is a fundraiser for the No Barriers Summit being hosted by the National Sports Center for the Disabled in Winter Park, June 30 to July 3.
