The best part of the annual Academy Awards is arguably the red-carpet fashion, and this year, stars were showcasing a variety of couture gowns. Bright reds and tangerines dominated the pre-Oscar parade, with some purple trimming and light, ethereal dresses to counterbalance the rich palette. There were hits, misses and home-runs; keep reading to check out what some of the nominees, presenters and performers wore to walk in the doors.

Jennifer Lawrence, nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, wore a bathing-suit style red dress by Calvin Klein. The simple cut and bright color looked fabulous with Lawrence's gorgeous mane of blonde hair.

One of two The Fighter Best Supporting Actress nominees, Melissa Leo wore a Marc Bouwer gown that was a toe over the sparkly/fussy line, but she rocked the look nevertheless.

Best Supporting Actress nominee Hailee Steinfeld (for True Grit) is fourteen years old and already has more poise and taste than most of us procure in a lifetime.

Musician Mandy Moore was resplendent in Monique Lhuillier on the red carpet; she was the vocal star of Tangled and will perform at the ceremony.

The stunning Mila Kunis impressed in an ultra-feminine lavender dress.
