On "the Beach" at Arapahoe Basin, back in the day
Back in the day we had to ski to school uphill in both directions. Okay, maybe not, but you can still get an earful of old-school ski stories when representatives from Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Keystone and Copper Mountain get together tonight to reminisce about the good ol' days for the "Pioneers on Planks" panel at Finkel Auditorium, on the Breckenridge campus of Colorado Mountain College, 107 Denison Placer Road.

The panel (tickets are $10) is part of CMC's Peak to Pique Productions speaker series, and features Arapahoe Basin COO and Vice President Alan Henceroth, C.J. Mueller (Breckenridge), Keystone co-founders Bill and Jane Bergman and Team Summit Executive Director C.J. Julin, who worked as a ski instructor during Copper Mountain's inaugural season in 1972. They'll be showing off antique ski gear and sharing posters and other mementos from Summit County's ski history as part of the presentation.

For a taste, check out this week's Summit Daily interview with the lot of them on topics ranging from the completion of I-70 to the advent of snowboarding.
