Today in Stoke: Tonight's Gear & Cheer event benefits Women's Wilderness Institute

Gear geeks, this one's for you: The Women's Wilderness Institute hosts its 9th annual Gear & Cheer fundraiser event tonight at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder, 2590 Walnut Street, benefiting its Girls' Wilderness Program. $35 gets you in the door, where sponsors like Left Hand Brewing Company, Boulder Beer, Odell Brewing Company, Redstone Meadery, Augustina's Winery and Vinocopia will make sure you're in a proper state of mind to hit the silent auction with reckless abandon.

More than 60 sponsors donated prizes for the event, which means you'll get a chance at great bargains on new gear (including some of next season's stuff) from A-List local companies like Mountainsmith, GoLite, Osprey, Zeal Optics and Sherpani, plus auction items from dozens of other gear companies, shops, resorts, hotels, eco lodges, restaurants, et cetera.

The goal is to raise at least $40,000 for the program, which helps teach wilderness and outdoor adventure skills to girls between the ages of 9-18. Register online or at the door tonight starting at 6 p.m.
