Transcript of chat with the incredulous Denver Nuggets fan sitting next to me on the plane last night on my way home from covering the Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships (where, incidentally, Summit County local Eric Willett took first place in the men's slopestyle competition):
"So, what brought you out to Vermont?"
"I write about snowboarding and other sports, and this week I was covering the Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships for ESPN.com."
"Oh, awesome. I look at that website all day. Do you write about other sports, too?"
"Yeah, all the time. I mostly write about action sports, outdoor sports, you know, stuff like snowboarding."
"You don't write about basketball?"
"Nope. I don't really follow basketball."
"How can you live in Denver and call yourself a sportswriter and not write about the Nuggets?"
"I might write about it if the Nuggets went snowboarding."
