Comment of the day: Motorists are knuckle-dragging half-wits?

In the stressful urban commuting environment, bicyclists and drivers are often a lot like the Sharks and the Jets: They just do not get along. Bicycle Colorado is one of the many fine organizations working to change that, educating cyclists and drivers alike on how to share the road in peace -- but as this comment exchange between two readers on Bree Davies's post about Bicycle Colorado's upcoming annual gala proves, the work is not done yet. Also, we're probably biased because we're cyclists ourselves, but we're pretty sure it proves that cyclists are prone to wittier repartee.

It starts out with a little typically aggro commentary from a reader calling himself "Cyclists are Douches:"

Why can't cyclists be educated on NOT riding 2-3 abreast on busier roads and walkways?

And reader "Schwinnster" responds:

In fact, it is Bicycle Colorado's mission to educate both cyclists and motorists to ensure legally proper and safe cycling on Colorado roadways. Consequently, a cash donation to Bicycle Colorado is significantly more productive than a troll-like, self-centered rant. But it's probably difficult to reach your wallet with your head up your ass.

We can only hope that your generalization is not shared by all motorists. Much like the generalization that motorists are knuckle-dragging half-wits prone to domestic violence and intent on killing people with 2000 lb vehicles on "their" roadway because mommy didn't let them suckle the teat long enough is not shared by all cyclists.

Yup, Schwinnster, pretty much our sentiments exactly.
