Tonight's adults-only Science Lounge brings tattoos and trippy visuals together over cocktails
Tonight's after-hours Science Lounge at the Museum of Nature And Science invites Dr. Bridget Coughlin, museum curator of Human Health, to speak on tattoos and the biology behind the marriage of ink and skin (and all its squirmy, bacteria-laden possibilities.) But the topic of art will go beyond permanent body paint, also touching on Native American artwork and the spiral designs of the galaxy.
This edition of the monthly part-education part-cocktail party will also be a little different from past events, with a top-secret guerrilla-art creation of sorts involving any patrons interested in participating. "We don't want to give too much away," says Adult Programs Manager Liz Davis, "but we will have a large-scale group art 'project' with cool visuals projected on the rings in the West atrium that people can play with via an ipad."
Going down every third Thursday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Science Lounge is an opportunity for the 21-and-up crowd to do some museum exploration while enjoying cocktails from a cash bar. Tickets are $8 for members and $10 for non-members and can be purchased at the door, or through the Denver Museum of Nature and Science's website.
