This Weekend in Stoke: Top five wicked ways to celebrate Mother's Day

Lookout, mom! The Pagan Downhill crew ("sickest longboarding events in the world") is dropping bombs on Lookout Mountain this weekend for the 2011 Buffalo Bill Downhill Bloodspill, a skateboarding race pretty much guaranteed to live up to its gruesome name as 120 of Colorado's craziest skaters careen down a 1.1-mile course with seven sharp turns, four of them hairpins. Hint: If your mom is looking for carnage, have her post up near the biggest pile of hay bales.

Your momma's tire is so fat... The Denver Fat Tire Festival ($5 per participant, race registration not included) at Bear Creek Lake Park on Saturday features the Front Range 60 Rocky Mountain Endurance Marathon and Battle the Bear XC Mountain Bike Race, plus a kids' race and activities for the whole family

Throw momma from the terrain! Arapahoe Basin hosts its 8th annual Huck Rock & Roll amateur slopestyle competition on Saturday in the Treeline Terrain Park. Register by 9:30 a.m. ($10 plus lift ticket) on the first floor of the A-Frame base lodge, then throw down for cash prizes and goodie bag swag to give to your mom.

Rematch! One of the fiercest rivalries in roller derby comes to a head on Saturday at 7 p.m. when Portland's Rose City Rollers return to Denver to have their hot-pants handed to them again by the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls' 5280 Fight Club, last year's national champions. Rose City's crushing blows from RMRG at the 2009 Women's Flat Track Derby Association Western Regionals were documented in Brutal Beauty: Tales of the Rose City Rollers, the Best In Show winner at both the Crossroads Film Festival and the Indie Spirit Film Festival in 2010. Bring the kids (12 and under are free) and put your mom on the Party Bus ($27, includes free beer and bout admission) to see the sequel.

Loveland's last laps! They'll be singing the blues this weekend at Loveland's closing day bash. No, literally: Local blues legend Arnie J. Green will be laying it on thick on the Basin Patio on Sunday afternoon, where your mom can cry in her beer and join him in mourning the end of a season that brought just shy of 600 inches of glorious snow.
