Art Students League of Denver's Mobile Club: Text "Art," tune into the Summer Art Market

After nineteen years, the Art Student League's Summer Art Market taking place this weekend certainly lands in the category of time-honored; the annual sale, which has grown to include works by more than 200 artists, both known and unknown, is also the perfect reflection of what the ASLD is all about: Artists teaching artists in an egalitarian environment that provides both steady jobs for the pros and mentors for the wannabes. It costs money to keep such programs afloat, and this event benefits the league while showcasing all its constituents have to offer.

The most entertaining way to participate is, of course, by going. But there is a way to help out the ASLD and maybe end up with a fine piece of art, too, even if you can't go. This year, the league is adding a donation mobile-phone texting element to the sale: Just text ART to 27722 and donate a meager $5 to the cause, and you'll be entered in a drawing to win one of four works of art donated by ASLD friends and instructors. This is good stuff, art-lovers - just take a look:

Attend the free outdoor market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 200 Grant Street; although you can certainly do both, if you opt for the mobile donation route only, cross your fingers and wait: Winners will be texted from the ASLD Mobile Club at 3 p.m. Sunday.
