Closing the book on the next One Book, One Denver
Today is the deadline to vote for the next pick in the One Book, One Denver program. Your options: Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, The Art of Racing in the Rain, and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.![]()
Jef Otte wasn't thrilled by the choices, following in a long tradition of Westword writers who'd rather see more Colorado-centric books by Jack Kerouac, or Mark Twain, or Kent Haruf, or David Wroblewski -- if you cut off the last hundred pages of The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, and forget that he set it in the Midwest.
And because we're not just a bunch of carpers, we'll be coming up with our own summer reading program. But in the meantime, you still have a book to choose for Denver.
