Lollipop Park is exactly what we thought it was: a new Funtastic Fun

Categories: Childhood

World's scariest trash can.
After a recent coupon mailer alerted us to the opening of Lollipop Park in Centennial (who's bubble letter advertisement and accompanying photos looked strangely like Funtastic Fun's old stuff) we went down to check out the scene.  And it was, in fact, the same kiddie amusement park rides and trick mirrors from the former Funtastic Fun location at 3085 South Broadway, except everything looked a little cleaner and brighter. (We should also note that the coupon explicitly says that while no adults are allowed on the premises without a child, one can feel free to bring someone else's kid. Strange.)

It turns out that Funtastic Fun closed on May 1, according to its web site and moved most of its stuff to Lollipop Park, which opened June 1 inside South Suburban Park and Recreation's Family Sports Center at 6901 South Peoria Street in Centennial.

Most of its stuff, but not all of it.

Gone are the welcoming oversized rocking chair and giant stuffed teddy bear (which frankly, we liked because they were fixtures of the original Funtastic Nathan's in Cinderella City), now replaced by some kind of pirate shooting game. It turns out that a good part of it, including the teddy bear, was auctioned off back in May.

PirateGameLollipop.jpg
Funtastic Nathan himself, otherwise known as Nathan Elinoff, didn't return a call seeking comment on the name and location change, but by the looks of it, the place is already benefiting from the mini make-over.

The baby versions of adult amusement park rides are now surrounded by a rock wall, ice rink, laser tag room and a bunch of inflatable jumpy things. The only thing we want to know is: Where did the shadow room go?

Had a great time at the Lollipop Park with my two kids who are 3 & 2. They always ask me if we are going the the Lollipop Park today. They have good rides for all kids & I would request this place to any parent who has kids that want to have a good time. Lollipop Park Rules!!

Yelp removes all of the good reviews and only posts the ignorant lies to make businesses look terrible; unless the business pays Yelp $300.00 per month or $3600.00 per year in advertising fees. It's true; just Google Yelp lawsuits and see for yourself their blackmail & extortion. I did in fact verify this on Lollipop Parks webpage in their owners statement.Shame on Yelp and the moron reviews that don't post their picture and don't have enough multiple reviews. A lot of those positive reviews that were removed had numerous credits to their name and were legitimate.Thank you Lollipop Park for your 30 years of service to this community, your thousands of donations on display at your front counter, and quality entertainment. Go after every critic; because they really are wrong opinions and not fact.

Lollipop Park is a GREAT place to go if you are in the Denver area! On a blistery cold day, your children can get out their energy playing inside this amusement park! My four year old son and his 3 friends had a BLAST riding the rides over and over again!

Not worth it – now that this place has relocated, the $12.95is definitely not worth it and the high school kids that now work there eitherdon’t understand small children or don’t really care for small children.  In the previous location, the ride attendantwas great, sensitive to young childrens’ needs and overall just good withkids.  Also at the new location, adultscannot ride the train.  We have a 22month old and didn’t feel comfortable letting him ride alone, but the rideattendant wouldn’t let an adult on with him. Then we checked with the manager who said it was okay, but then afterbeing denied an adult getting on the train an hour later, the manager said noadults allowed.  Really?  For $12.95 I expect to ride everything or atleast of the adult able to accompany the child. And I expect the rules to be consistent. We will not go back to thisplace again.

This place is soooo small now.  Missing are the really cool bridge with bigslide, ball pit to play in, and several of the other extras that made this abetter value.

Also the owner monitors google reviews and is pretty defiantand rude in his responses.  Weird thathe/she has to defend this business so aggressively.  Makes you wonder.

I am an employee of Lollipop park, have known the owners and worked with them since 1997, they are kind hearted, generous, and overall wonderful people not only to work for but to also just get to know. I am a mother of two, an aunt of 12 nieces and nephews who love coming here to play. We have had a lot of reveiws done by others who are not quite honest about how they were treated or the amount of fun their kids have had. I have read certain reveiws by adults that simply amaze me as to how horrible, ignorant and downright dishonest some people can be towards a business that brings fun, laughter, and smiles to children and the owners/employees who work so hard to do a good job, have fun and make this experience about the kids. And thank you to all our customers out there who dont beleive what they may read, back us up, and experience lollipop park for yourself, love it, and continue to come back. We have customers that brought their children to us and now their grandkids, people who come in constantly that we get to know, and children that love us :-)

I also wanted to address a couple of other things.  1.  That "mailer" wasn't sent to "alert" Bree Davis, it was sent to 500,000 households and it cost us $5000.00 to do so.  This summer brought in over 24,000 extremely excited customers; many will return for birthday parties and future visits during the cold winter.  #2.  World's scariest trash cans?  Our customers think they are very fun.  No customer has ever had a negative comment on them.  #3.  We did, in fact, buy a brand new horse carousel for $125,000.00 and a new swing ride for $65,000.00; they are NOT from Funtastic Fun.  #4.  Our funny mirrors are just that; they are not "trick mirrors."  And they are brand new, and cost $7000.00.  The kids and parents love them.  The former ones were sold at the auction.  #5.  The FUNNY comment about "if you don't have kids, bring someone elses" was funny.  Not strange.  Either Bree doesn't haved a sense of humor, or she's just jealous of other people's success and she is trying to tear them down for no apparent reason.#6.  We don't talk to the news media anymore.  They edit what they want to print, so it doesn't matter what we say.  #7.  Why don't you print "positive" stories; like our showcase of over 10,000 letters and cards of "thanks" for 30 years of charitable contributions.  It's all on display.  We "challange" any other business our size that's given $2.5 million in tickets and over $30,000.00 in hard earned cash to hundred's of children's charities.  FYI - we just put everything on display one week ago.  They were all in storage boxes.  It's good to remind people all the good we do, and maybe others will see it and pay it forward.  Because, we wrote the book on "pay it forward" 30 years ago.

Thank you to both Sandydowd and Jannetriley.  Please read our owners statement at the bottom of our webpage at www.lollipoppark.com that addresses these idiots and morons. We are also very disturbed by sarcastic, jealous freaks that bash good businesses and good people.  It doesn't work Bree; please don't patronize us again.  Your nasty words are not funny or appropriate, and we don't want you in our business ever again.  In San Fransisco, restaurants have posted pictures of idiot critics "faces" to make sure they're not allowed in restaurants anymore.  These critics/writers have no right to bash, and obviously can't seem to find anything "nice" to say.  So let's band together, continue this positive write in campaign for nice businesses, and let the media know that their negative and disgusting comments won't be tolerated. We would like to reward these two people with free tickets for taking the time to respond.  Please email us.  Thank you.Lollipop Park

Regardless, where can you take children, with rides, and all the things they love to do at that fair price? You can not even take a child to the carnivel without breaking the bank. Regardless the name, I've always liked taking my child and grand children to this park, its a safe enviroment, lots of fun and very reasonable. As far as taking others children, I am sure its for aunts, uncles, grandparents, freinds of the family or childrens freinds, parents, not the riff raff that its implied. Our daughter is medicaly fradgile, and they have been very pleasent, kind and accomidating whenever we went, and she always had fun.I am greatful for a place we can take our children, freinds and grandchildren that is clean, fair and fun for a nominal price. For those who are not happy, its simple, just don't go :).As for me, I am greatful that they have espired to revamp there look, location, yet keep there prices fair for everyone to afford :)

Bree-  If you can't say anything nice....don't say anything at all. Advice to children your age.

We used to bring our kids to Fantastic fun, and now we bring our grand children to the Lollipop Park. We are very grateful that the owners have continued their operation. It's an amazing business and I've read all the negative comments on different reviews. I totally disagree with all of them. Their staff has always been good, and the owners have a right to respond to critics; especially since every one of them get to remain anonymous.

Normally I do not respond to these however I felt it important to mention this. I have recently decided to have my daughters 2nd birthday at this location and since I have never been there decided to look up reviews. This exact complaint seems to be copied and pasted into every review website however if I was not the type of person that does my homework after reading the owners response to these reviews I would have quickly changed my mind because of the way the respose was worded. However I never trust one websites reviews and searched for more. My advice to the owner is simple your website clearly states that adults may only ride with their children on 2 rides. Instead of being unecessarily defensive and possibly scaring off future people who are interested in visiting your location post exactly what is already on your website. Had this woman done her homework on the web since she clearly knows how to use it to post nasty comments after the fact the price would not have been surprizing *I actually think it is pretty reasonable, she would have known what rides are featured * their are pictures of them on the website, and she would have known which rides she was allowed to ride with her child on * again clearly stated on the website. I think it is wonderful that you read your reviews and I don't think you are wrong but as a future customer I do think your comments come off as a little aggressive and as I stated before some may rethink using your business simply because they do not see the wonderful reviews on the following website http://www.tripadvisor.com/Sho... that I was lucky enough to find.

my kids and i loved this place. we were explained in detail how it all works, what the asmission includes, and what the adults could ride. as far as we were treated, the staff working were very nice to my kids. two young men and a gal at the counter, they were very nice. it was nice to take my kidos somewhere, on a weekday, where the staff is nice and considerate to young kids. we will definately be back and tell our friends to join us.

Leanne or Maggie - whoever you are - you keep dogging us on Yelp (which was removed) Google reviews and now this site.  I hope everyone reads my response to you on the Google Reviews.  You are a fake, and have spent a lot of time trying to hurt us for some stupid reason.  You did "NOT PAY to ride our rides.  You have no "right" to ride our rides.  You paid for your "child" to ride our "kiddie" rides.  We allow adults to ride the Ferris Wheel and Teacup ride "with" kids for FREE.  The train is NOT INCLUDED!  You knew that; it's posted as to what we allow adults to accompany their child on.  Forget Funtastic Fun.  We moved, changed our name, and OBVIOUSLY changed our concept to "KIDDIELAND" for kids UNDER 10 only.  You act like a 2 year old, now grow up before you kid reads this.  All kids ride our rides by themselves; that's why you were able to purchase a writsband for your child; they MET OUR AGE, WEIGHT AND HEIGHT" requirements.  So far, you've shown your stupidity on many websites.  That's perfectly legal.  But if you cross that line and print any LIBEL, I will pay $19.95 for a reverse IP address, and sue you for everything you have, and give whatever we win to local children's charities.  So watch your step, and grow some common sense. Our staff is "obviously" attentive, rerspectful, great with screaming kids!  We help challenged kids on rides, help them off, and receive hundreds of compliments every single week.  You are mad because you "wanted" to ride a kiddie ride that you didn't pay for.  Now shut up.

I moved Funtastic Fun away from the South Broadway Engle "hood" marijuana stores, meth houses, crack whores, porno shops, graphitti / broken window epidemic, gang activity, vehicle break-ins, aggressive customers, liquor stores, etc. to a more respectful part of town.  And Leanne, all you have to spit out is "Lollipop's manager won't let you ride the kiddie train" . . . . . . .  on websites that you HIDE behind with anonymous names.

Keep mouthing off.  You started this rude, offensive, & hateful review campaign on many websites, and all I'm doing is calling you on your ridiculous comments - and they simply aren't true.  Except the fact that you aren't allowed on the kiddie train.  Now stop your griping, get over it and ride the Ferris Wheel and Teacup for free. And for goodness sakes, be respectful and GRATEFUL that I'm still in this business.  Because no one elee has made it this long (30 years) and kept the price this low.  If you don't believe it, then go to Elitch's kiddieland; for you it's $50.00 and your child $30.00 plus $15.00 to park your car "JUST TO GO INTO KIDDIELAND" as opposed to my $12.95.

Leanne, I have been looking for a place to take the kiddies on our way through Denver, I have read the owners reponses and I don't think it "weird" at all that they want to answer their critics.  Lets face it , some people are just pita's (pain in the a++) Its their job to make people as miserable as they are because they feel "intitled" to have everything their way as it is their God given right, As for us, this sounds like a good stop, and I take it as it is, a few hours of road distraction.
