Awesome People Hanging Out Together is awesome
We are flashed hundreds of images of celebrities doing regular stuff everyday via tabloids and television -- they get caught buying groceries, going to Starbucks and fighting inappropriately with their significant others in public. But who cares if they are "just like us"? They aren't supposed to be real people. They are famous, and that's why we like looking at them. Recently, we found this great tumblr, Awesome People Hanging Out Together, which is a random collection of photographs of just that -- awesome people hanging out together.

Can you imagine the conversation that was happening when the picture above was taken? We can't even wrap our heads around it. This is what makes Awesome People so awesome: The imagined senarios that brought these people together in the first place. There are pictures of William S. Burroughs and Kurt Cobain looking at books together and Susan Sarandon, Liza Minelli and Christopher Walken having drinks in the eighties, when they all had wild hair.

Another nice part about this blog is the idea that most of these images are actual photographs, not hipstamatic prints from iPhones -- which for some reason makes the nostalgia of seeing James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor relaxing together on a couch under a copy of LOOK Magazine just that much sweeter. If we weren't so busy trolling the Internet, we would start a website for captions of these photos -- because we really want to know what Madonna, Sting and Tupac were really talking about. Probably the excitement of meeting Kurt Loder in person.
