Breck Bike Week is counting down the days to the USA Pro Cycling Challenge
Breck Bike Week just got underway yesterday, but already the town's cycling community is looking forward to Fall: In just 46 days the USA Pro Cycling Challenge (August 22-28) will be off to the races, bringing many of the world's top cyclists to Colorado. 
Breck is hosting Stage 5 of the event on August 27, and today at 10 a.m. the Breckenridge Local Organizing Committee will host a Countdown to Kickoff event in the Blue River Plaza (intersection of Main Street and Washington Avenue) with Colorado Tourism Office director Al White, Rep. Millie Hamner and Breckenridge Mayor John Warner discussing the race's impact on state tourism -- they like to use the word "Epic" as an adjective up there in Breckenridge -- and then leading a group ride through town.
Head up early to watch the live broadcast from the Tour de France before the kickoff (many of those same competitors will be here for the USA Pro Cycling Change), then stick around for today's other Breck Bike Week activities, including the Continental Divide Land Trust's Art & Wildflower Celebration, the 6 p.m. Cruiser Ride (costume theme: "Redneck Truckers and Lot Lizards") and Bike Rodeo events at Riverwalk Center, 150 West Adams Avenue, lasting until 9:30 p.m. For the full Breck Bike Week schedule, visit www.GoBreck.com.
