What is an X-Treme Pancake Breakfast without Earl Grey butter, Kimchi and Lil Smokies?

Culture collector Andrew Novick has been throwing his annual summer "BreakfastBQ" -- an outdoor barbeque-style pancake party -- for his friends in Denver for over a decade now. But this year, he's going big. Coined the "Andrew Novick's X-treme Pancake Breakfast!" by Denver County Fair organizer Dana Cain, the breakfast junkie will be holding down an inflated version of his all-you-can-eat pancake buffet starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, at the fair's Stadium Arena.

For just six bucks (or five dollars, if purchased in advance), one can enjoy over fifty toppings, including Kimchi, licorice, various heated syrups and over ten types of butter. The array of toppings, Novick says, is the key to this breakfast's success.

"I did my pancake buffet research," Novick explains. He says that after attending various all-you-can-eat pancake breakfasts across the city over the summer, he noticed that not many had more than a two or three toppings, and it certainly wasn't all-one-could-eat. Novick encourages eaters to pig out and go crazy with the topping combinations -- which will also include deliveries of fresh, hot fried cereal from Charles Phoenix's on-site test kitchen. Novick will also be crowning a Breakfast Prince or Princess, based on participants crazy pancake concoctions or their meal-inspired attire.

To combat the issue of long lines for those wanting seconds (another problem he noticed in his buffet research) Novick will be running several breakfast stations, including a "cook-in" griddle, where folks can pick toppings first, and have them grilled right into the pancakes. Along with an array of sweet, savory and non-traditional toppings, Watercourse Foods will be donating vegan and gluten-free batter options as well.

A portion of the money raised from the breakfast will go to Colorado Anti-Violence Program, who will also be donating grills for use in the massive pancake-off.
