This weekend at the Boulder International Fringe Festival: August 19, 20 and 21
As the Fringe slides into the weekend, openings include two shows we've already highlighted in print -- an adapted Irish mystery, The Third Policeman, 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Dairy Center and Kelsey Huff's solo2 show HUFFS, 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Dairy -- and a whole lot more. 
For something completely outside the box, for instance, try the outdoor dance "prayerformance" Aaaaahhhhhh!!!, 6 p.m. at the Settler's Park Trailhead along Boulder Creek (meet at Eben G Fine Park, near the main parking lot, and be prepared to hike; admission is $10 to $12).
Even funkier still, join Boulder's Obscene/Courageous Theatre at the Fringe Box Office, 1301 Pearl Street, at 6:30 p.m.tonight or tomorrow and walk to the site of Out At Sea, where you'll become part of the roiling sea upon which three people on a raft must chose which one of them will be eaten by the others. Admission is $8 to $10. And HAAN Dances 12 at 12 is free and continues daily at noon on the Pearl Street Mall (visit the website keep up with its progress).

More formal debuts include the solo musical Then Sean met Khalid, about a black adoptee with white parents, by New Yorker Hip Hip Heredia, 8 p.m. at the We'reHouse, 5763 Arapahoe Avenue, Unit P, in Boulder ($7 to $10 for tix).
Or try They Call Me Mister Fry, a solo show by teacher-turned-performance-artist Jack Fry, who waxes on his experiences teaching fifth grade in South Central L.A. It's said that Steven Colbert himself endorses the show, which has seen performances both off-Broadway and in front of the Department of Education in Washington, D.C.; if you're not yet sold on this one, you've got to be dead. See it tonight at 5:30 p.m. at Wesley Chapel, CU-Bolder campus; tickets are $15.

Need a nightcap? Don't forget to reconnoiter at Big Time, where Boulder favorite Emily K. Harrison and various Fringe performers gather in the basement of the Lazy Dog, 1346 Pearl Street, nightly at 10 p.m., for off-the-wall fun, interviews and imbibing. As for the ongoing Fringe fare, shows typically run for five or six performances at varying times, through August 27; check the website for a complete schedule.
