With the weather getting colder and people getting snugglier, it is definitely the beginning of movie season. Now picture the best possible experience: No advertising before the show, anyone talking or texting is thrown out, and, of course, you'll be able to enjoy a beer and an appetizer or two while you sit back to enjoy the big screen. Sound like a fairy tale? Well, next year it won't be.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, a Texas chain that includes food and drinks with your movie experience, is opening a new location in the Aspen Grove shopping center in Littleton in late 2012. (Alamo is also a friend of Denver film producer Glenn Berggoetz, whose recent release, The Worst Movie EVER!, also hauled in the worst opening-weekend box office ever, selling exactly one ticket for a total gross of $11.)

But booze and snacks aren't the only things the Alamo offers. The original theater, in Austin, Texas, boasts wacky events and showings, including classic films, horror and sci-fi nights, movie premieres and robots wandering the parking lot.

Aside from its many locations in Texas, the Alamo has only one theater in Virginia, making Denver second in line to get what Wired Magazine called (and bloggers agree) "the coolest theater in the world."

That's because Alamo Drafthouse is a veritable movie entity unto itself. Alamo productions include Fantastic Fest, an annual film festival specializing in horror, sci-fi, fantasy and action; Mondo, which specializes in movie posters, T-shirts and DVDs; Badass Digest, a movie and culture blog/online magazine; and Drafthouse Films, the distribution arm of the enterprise, which brings to the masses various international and indie films. Not to mention the fact that Alamo pulls in many a Hollywood heavy-hitter: Quentin Tarantino, Paul Rudd and other actors and directors have been known to host various premieres and events.

So between the celebrities, the festivals, the tasty offerings, the robots and, of course, the films, movie lovers and film geeks will soon have a new paradise to turn to. Only one more winter season, and the ultimate theater will soon be ours.
