Turn out the lights! Director Josh Berman and his Level 1 Productions crew -- local heroes all -- are bringing it tonight at 8 p.m. for the world premiere of After Dark at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, 2637 Welton Street ($15). The twelfth installment in the Level 1 ski porn filmography features Colorado spots like Breckenridge and Telluride's Helitrax operation among a list of snowy locales around the world, as well as some of the biggest names in freeskiing, many of whom will be in the house tonight. For the After Dark trailer and more pre-season ski porn fixes, don't miss our comprehensive guide to all of this month's ski and snowboard movie premieres.

DocuWest.jpg
How the West was undone! The 2011 DocuWest International Film Festival got underway on Wednesday and runs through the weekend at venues in and around Golden, Denver, and Boulder. While there are weightier films on the program, we like the burning-at-both-ends intensity of Tristan Patterson's weirdo documentary Dragonslayer, following burnout California skate rat Josh "Skreech" Sandoval. The film was the grand jury winner for Documentary Feature at the SXSW Film Festival; it screens tonight at 9 p.m. at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts' Studio Loft at 14th and Champa ($7), and again on Saturday at 10 p.m. at The Dairy Center for the Performing Arts in Boulder, 2590 Walnut Street ($10).

Tour de Fat.jpg
Fly your freak flag! New Belgium Brewing's Tour de Fat pedals into Denver on Saturday with a bike parade (costumes encouraged!) leaving City Park at 10 a.m., followed by a day of entertainment, beer, and food (proceeds benefit Bike Denver and the Denver Cruisers; last week's event in Fort Collins raised over $90,000 for the Overland Mountain Bike Club, Bike Fort Collins, and Fort Collins Bike Co-op, according to New Belgium spokeswoman Jenny Foust).

Red Bull Final Descent.jpg
Bombs away! If you thought the Running of the Bulls was gnarly, check out the Red Bull Final Descent at Winter Park's Trestle Bike Park on Saturday: The 12-hour downhill endurance mountain bike race starting at 7 a.m. is a contest to see who can take the most laps up the chairlift and down the white-knuckle descent (last year's winner got a punishing 38 laps in). Advance registration starts at $70 (race solo, duo, or in teams of four) and goes up by $15 for on-site registration.

Run for it! Sunday is full of distance running challenges of every stripe. Try the Denver 1/2 Marathon ($70) or 10K Trail Race ($35), both at 8 a.m. at the Cherry Creek Reservoir, or head for the hills for the 10 a.m. La Sportiva Vail EverGold Trail Run 10K/5K at the Vail Golf Club ($38).
