Maurices to open another Colorado store -- all sizes of women welcome!

Yup, it will probably look something like this.

​An outpost of Maurices is set to open on Friday, October 28, at Southwest Plaza, complete with an old-fashioned ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. But it's the ribbons and other women's apparel items inside the store that will attract all the attention.

This is the sixteenth Colorado store for the women's apparel retailer. Southwest Plaza store manager Kim Kelley says the goal of Maurices is to create a "homey-vibe" where customers feel comfortable shopping for clothing and accessories, with the help of the company's expert salespeople. The brand, which got its start in Minnesota in 1931, sells everything from hoodies and sweats to office attire, all aimed at teenagers and customers with a "twenty-something attitude."

Perhaps the most striking facet of Maurices is that it carries women's sizes 1 to 24 in-store -- a range for women's apparel not commonly found under one roof. "Our core sizing is from 1 to a 17/18, but we carry through size 24, and around 75 percent of our pants come in short, regular and long lengths," Kelley says.

In point-wise, Maurices falls somewhere between other popular women's apparel retailers marketing to the same demographic, such as Forever 21 and Express. The store carries items ranging from under-$10 accessories and $24 denim to outer wear running upwards of $129.

For this opening, the store will be offering buy one-get one, 50 percent off deals on select styles through November 8. You can also sign onto the in-store registry for a chance at several $100 shopping sprees; that offer runs through November 13.
