The Denver Diatribe: Celebrate the podcast's 50th episode at live "Love & Hate" taping tonight
Last year at about this time, I blogged about why my friends and I had launched the Denver Diatribe podcast, a labor of digital love that was heavy on the labor. Along with taking some pot shots at Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner and his obsession with bark beetles, I explained that the weekly show could bring us fame and fortune. Fifty episodes in, there's no fame or fortune -- but there will be a free live taping tonight at 7 p.m. at Forest Room 5, 2532 15th Street.
So far, the Diatribe has been a fun go, with topics ranging from killer cantaloupes to the problem with brunch to how to talk like you're Ira Glass. We've also been fortunate enough to feature as special guests a wide variety of local luminaries, including comedians, novelists, cartoonists and an expert on zombie attacks. That's right: We're highbrow.
And so tonight, we'll be hosting a special live taping of our fiftieth show, a little something we're calling "Love and Hate Fest 2011." In true Diatribe style, we've lined up a coterie of special guests who will help us rant and rave about what makes Denver the most interesting place between Omaha and Salt Lake -- and the audience is invited to join in, too.
So come on by, have a few drinks, heckle and holler about why you love (or hate) Denver, and join in on the podcast magic. Heck, Ryan Warner, if you're reading this, we'd love to have you, too. Just leave the bark-beetle shtick at home, capice?
