The Clyfford Still Museum opens to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, but you don't have to wait that long to be enveloped in abstract-expressionist magic. There are hundreds of poster featuring eight of Still's works scattered across Boulder and Denver -- and if you're up for a scavenger hunt, finding all of them could win you a two-day trip to San Francisco.

On the posters, you'll find QR codes -- ink blot-meets-barcode square images. Scan the QR codes -- you'll need a smartphone with a camera and a QR reader app -- and instructions will pop up on how to submit them to the Clyfford Still Museum contest, which will put you in the running for free admission, gift bags and memberships, as well as that trip which includes a private tour of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and a night at the Four Seasons.

There are a few hundred of some prints, and only ten to fifteen of others, according to Irene Weygandt, the museum's associate director of marketing. In order to qualify for the trip, you'll need to find all eight (the winner will be chosen randomly from those who locate the entire set), but the other prizes have lower thresholds and will either be determined on a first-come, first-served basis, or randomly from all participants. (The method has yet to be decided.)

You'll find the posters at "arts and cultural institutions" and in arts districts across Boulder and Denver, says Weygandt, who specifically mentions Santa Fe Drive. The museum's Facebook and Twitter (@still_museum) accounts will provide more hints in coming days.

The museum will look at the response before choosing a final date for the contest cut-off.The best Weygandt can offer right now is "check your e-mail": that's how the museum will contact the tech-savvy winners.

In the meantime, the museum will open officially at 10 a.m. November 18, and admission will be free until noon. (Capacity is 500, so get in line early.) The First Light sneak-peak soiree on Wednesday has already sold out; the Friday night En Route event featuring DeVotchKa had fewer than 75 tickets left as of Monday morning.
