Denver Design Incubator turns out better designer businesses, one stitch at a time

​You have an eye for fashion or home design. Maybe you've already hung out a shingle, or perhaps you're still a student looking for a functional foothold on this slippery economic slope. You're not alone: The Denver Design Incubator can help lead you through the ins and outs of running your own business while at the same time putting yourself -- and your high-quality work -- out there.

The DDI's two-year Designer-in-Residence program could have been designed for you.

Interested? Today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its headquarters within the partnering I Heart Denver Store in the Denver Pavilions, DDI is hosting an open house for designers interested in learning more about applying for the program, which offers classes both technical and business-oriented, as well as a chance to work with established mentors in a professional studio setting.

You'll meet and greet with director Holli Gibson and founder Rustin Coburn; current residents Jeanne Connolly, who repurposes furniture into one-of-a-kind pieces and hosts seasonal pop-up shops to sell her wares (the next is on November 12 at Hinterland Gallery), and clothing designer Kristen Littlejohn will also be available to answer questions.
