Susan Froyd rounded up some of the season's best homegrown shopping opportunities in her "Buy Local Week" post, prompting this from Marie (yes, one of the local artists whose creations Froyd singles out):

We love you!!I love the way you put it: "They've learned that buying something original doesn't have to burn a hole in your pocket, and that these kinds of presents signal a return to the kind of giving that's much like looking someone in the eye and telling someone that you care about them. No gift-wrapped giant-screen TV will ever do that for you."
Now, get out there and get shopping! Many of the markets that Susan Froyd mentions here are open today or this weekend.
