Opening day at Keystone, Copper; EpicMix; Ski Expo; and the Adventure Film Festival
Keystone and Copper Mountain open today, joining Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, and Wolf Creek. And make sure you smile for the cameras at Keystone, where its parent company, Vail Resorts, debuts the new EpicMix Photo social media app: A small army of professional photographers on the mountain will be snapping away and scanning passes and lift tickets, then linking those photos to visitors' EpicMix accounts so they can share them to Facebook. Or celebrate at Copper with the annual Lift Off party, hit the rails in the new Bouncer Terrain Park under the American Eagle lift (built by Woodward at Copper), and stick around for the après-shred party: Copper's showing this year's biggest snowboard film The Art of Flight tonight at 6 p.m. in the Bighorn Ballroom.
The 20th annual Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo opens today at noon at the Colorado Convention Center and runs through the weekend, with gear discounts up to 75 percent off and lots of last-minute season pass and lift ticket deals. Check out the new Colorado Triple Play, announced yesterday: The 6-day pass is good for two days each at Winter Park, Steamboat, and the Aspen/Snowmass resorts ($299/adult, $249/kids).
The Adventure Film Festival opens tonight at 5 p.m. at the Boulder Theater with a program of shorts and the feature-length ski film All.I.Can, and continues tomorrow with a Kids' Film Festival at noon at the Boulder Theater and screenings at the Boulder Theater and REI Boulder beginning at 2 p.m. (check out our picks for this year's top-five must-see films). Two-day festival pass is $50, good for access to all forty films and shorts, plus a series of workshops and after-parties. Friday passes are $25; Saturday passes are $30. Individual screening tickets are $15 and available in limited quantities.
