Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop will open a small outlet on South Broadway

Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop will kickstart a tiny, 250-square -foot version of its bike shop on South Broadway sometime in the next few weeks. It will be located right behind Happy Coffee, which Salvagetti owner Scott Taylor plans to open at 1 South Broadway sometime in February or March inside what is now Fancy Tiger Crafts (that store is also moving).

"We'll be able to handle most of the things that might ale your bike," Taylor says, adding that the little shop will focus on same-day quick repairs.

"A lot of our customers are already in the Baker neighborhood, so we want to head people off at the pass so they don't have to come up here," he adds.

The existing Salvagetti at 1611 Platte Street will stay the same, although its coffee kiosk, also called Happy Coffee, will close on Friday.

More bicycle shops opening should serve to encourage people to make the change from commuting with their cars. Besides being cheaper, it'll also protect them against road mishaps, especially if the town or city has a good road policy for bikers.
