If you haven't made it to the new Clyfford Still Museum yet -- and even if you have -- here's an opportunity too good to refuse: The museum will kick off a citywide season of related art events tonight by inviting the public to an evening of behind-the-scenes tours and gallery talks that from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The evening was planned before that embarrassing episode when a woman defaced a $30 million painting there. The rest of the works on display remain in tip-top shape, though, and there's no better way to look at them than with director and curator Dean Sobel.

Throughout the evening, you'll have access to the museum's Conservation Studio, where conservator James Squires will speak on the issues and surprises that come with maintaining a sizable collection. Sobel's tour begins after remarks at 6:45 p.m.; at 7:15 p.m., facilities manager David Finch will fill you in on the building's tailored, organic design. Admission is free with the regular gate fee of $3 to $10.

Other upcoming events include a screening of the documentary Still with the filmmakers on hand on January 12 at the \Denver FilmCenter, and Face to Face: Vance Kirkland and Clyfford Still, a collaborative slide lecture presented by the Vance Kirkland Museum at the Still Museum on January 26; visit the website for a complete schedule of additional events and partner exhibitions.
