Categories: Things To Do

It's so easy to get the blues in dreary, cruddy February. But there's no excuse this weekend -- the city is full of things to do. From Oscar parties to art openings, dance performances to absurd theater, we've got everything you could possibly want. And it all costs $10 or less.

Celestial Terrestrial at Hinterland (Friday, free)
The dolls artist Elena Stonaker crafts out of beads and sequins are beautiful pieces that will be on display tonight at her opening. Comes view the magic Stonaker and fellow artist Jeff Page have created.

AdVentures in Rupturing Seams at the Dikeou Collection (Friday, free)
Ever get stuck watching a performance you're just not that into? That definitely won't happen tonight. This avant-garde dance performance is structured like an art opening, with different performances happening simultaneously that you can come and go as you please. All the dance pieces were inspired by art in the fascinating Dikeou Collection, so the performances are sure to be intriguing and different than the standard Swan Lake.

You can always count on Pictureplane's Travis Egedy for events with mystical titles, awesome fliers and fantastic beats. This night definitely fits the bill, described as a one-night only live performance art work with musical performances by Real Magic and Pictureplane. Don't question it. Just go.

An Absurd Evening of Absurd Theatre at the Voodoo Comedy Playhouse (Friday, $9)
Tired of reasonable theater? The Voodoo Comedy playhouse is offering up three bizarre plays tonight whose subjects range from talking mules to sexy bedbugs. Bizarre? Yes. Fun? Definitely.

Colorado Environmental Film Festival at the American Mountaineering Center (Friday through Saturday, $5)
Whether you're a serious environmentalist or someone who's just interested in reducing your ecological footprint, the CEFF has more than fifty films (at only $5 each) as well as panels and family activities to inspire you to action. Not sure what to see? Check out this list of the top five flicks.
