At tonight's French Quarter Follies, Ma Earth is one sexy mother

Because this planet's the only one we've got for the time being, you can never really celebrate Earth Day enough. But there's no rule that says you have to be all self-righteous and earnest or even new-agey about paying homage to Gaia. It's okay to have fun, too, and that's the reason for tonight's installment of Voodoo Comedy Playhouse's bimonthly French Quarter Follies burlesque show, which will be dedicated to Mother Earth and all her earthy faeries, sprites and wood creatures.

The aforementioned, of course, can be expected to appear in various stages of filmy dress for an evening of song, dance, jokes and other alluring nonsense.

Hosted by Frenchie Renard, with special guest Minette and a slew of local pretties performing, French Quarter Follies begins at 8 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m. at Voodoo, after which the club will be opened for a round of karaoke. Admission is $14 in advance or $16 at the door; go to the Voodoo website for information and tickets.
