2. The Colorado Symphony presents Mariachi Cobre

Who: Anyone who wants to celebrate a more sedate Cinco de Mayo.

What: A night of mariachi music with legendary group Mariachi Cobre, house band of the Mexican Pavilion at Disney
World's Epcot Center.

Where: Boettcher Concert Hall in the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

When: Saturday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m.

How much: Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased online.

1. Cinco de Mayo cruising on Federal Boulevard.

Who: Gearheads and people-watchers alike.

What: Cruising down Federal Boulevard, a Denver tradition, has gotten the Denver Police Department in a hissy in recent years, for causing traffic problems and inspiring people to "loiter" -- and tickets have been handed out in the past. Still, the event is great for people-watching and spotting classic cars, as well as enjoying an old neighborhood tradition. And it's definitely legal to watch.

Where: Federal Boulevard.

When: Saturday, May 5.

How much: Since it's not a sanctioned event, there's no fee. Just park yourself somewhere along Federal and check out the cars and characters.
