Clothing Swap/Lunch at the Dikeou Collection (Friday, free)
Start out your weekend by getting some new clothes to wear out -- at no cost. Amid the beautiful art collection at Dikeou, you can bring your own gently used, unwanted items from your own clothing collection to swap for others's duds. The Route 40 lunch truck will be on hand to provide an Argentinian lunch (which you should bring cash for), so come to eat, swap, and spice up your wardrobe.
Hit So Hard at the Denver FilmCenter/Colfax (Friday-Sunday, $9.75 It's amazing that Patty Schemel made it out of her crazy, drug and alcohol-fueled days in 90s grunge band Hole. The Cutting Edge at Three Little Birds Salon (Friday, free)
Spend First Friday somewhere a little different tonight -- at a salon. Three Little Birds Salon will host the art of mother and son team Joetta Mallett and Marz Meyer and provide all the traditional First Friday fare: cocktails, fun, and of course, art. Meyer works in found material, transforming cardboard and other pieces of discarded items into multimedia pieces, and his mother restores decorative furniture. See it all tonight.
More Discoveries: Inaugural Exhibition, Part II at the Clyfford Still Museum (Friday, $3-10)
The Clyfford Still Museum will unveil seventy new works from the abstract expressionist tonight at this intriguing reception. This will be a new opportunity to see even more of the artist's vast body of work, with pieces chronologically spanning his entire artistic career. Don't worry, this just the first of many more exhibits to come -- the museum owns 2,400 of the artist's work.
Within You, Without You at RedLine (Friday, free)
If you're looking for a show to discover new artists this weekend, Within You, Without You is definitely the place to be. The show is the Denver School of the Arts's Visual Arts Department Senior Art Exhibition, so you can browse the work of more than a dozen talented DSA students. It's sure to be a great place to see art you've never seen before, and support these young artists before they move to New York to find fame and fortune.
