Abecedarian Gallery books Katie Taft's Action Figures for the afternoon
Looking to start a new chapter? Head to Alicia Bailey's Abecedarian Gallery, a tiny, meticulously curated book-art gallery on Santa Fe Drive, for the last day of the Artists Book Cornucopia III exhibition. And it's going out in style, with a special edition of Westword MasterMind Katie Taft's Action Figures artist discussion series, featuring three Colorado contributors from the group show.
Heather Doyle-Maier, "Her (un) Doing."
Action Figures is usually at home across town at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center in Lakewood, so it's a rare occasion to catch Taft at work in the Art District on Santa Fe. And Taft, a deft moderator, should draw out some fascinating facts about the mysterious world of book art -- where you don't always flip through pages or get a linear story -- right from the artists' mouths.
Sammy Seung-min Lee and JongKu Kim, "Fe-O."
Denverites Heather Doyle-Maier and Sammy Seung-min Lee and Christine Martell of Fort Collins will chat with Taft on Saturday at 4 p.m., making this last viewing day of the complex exhibit all the more rich.
Come early and take it all in, before Taft and friends close the show; for more information visit Abecedarian online.Christine Martell, "Chapter 5."
