Salida ArtWalk in Salida (Friday-Sunday, free)
We hear it's cooler up in the mountains, which is definitely a reason to make a weekend of it and head up to Salida today for the town's twentieth-annual art walk. Terminal Velocity at the I Heart Denver Store (Saturday, $10)
Scour the city for typography today -- on your bike. This urban scavenger hunt challenges participants to find the letters of the alphabet all over the city, culminating in an after party with awards at Matchbox. Get out and search through this beautiful city on wheels.
Check out Denver yard sales (Friday-Sunday, free)
Tis the seasons for yard sales all over town, so why head to Ikea when you can get someone else's old, moderately priced furniture and tchotchkes and walk around the city while you're at it. Brush up on your haggling skills, put on your sunscreen, and go shopping. If you'd rather not wander aimlessly to look for yard sales, search "yard sale" in the Craigslist For Sale section to find out places to hit up.
Loops 4 Year Anniversary Party at the City Park Boat House (Saturday, free)
Pump up your bicycle tires to get ready for another ride this weekend, celebrating the fourth anniversary of weekly crawl Loops. If you want to be competitive you can register for the group's bike race, but if not, you can just ride along and celebrate at the after party at the Open Road House.
Hit the Road with the Horseshoe Market at Healy House and Dexter Cabin (Saturday, free)
Here's another place to escape the heat this weekend: Leadville. The higher altitude (10,152 feet above sea level) is sure to offer a nice break from the oppressive sweatiness of Denver while you shop at this outdoor market. Buy art wares and more at this mini flea market and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
