Greg Hill channels the prairie ethos in East of Denver

Last year we reported that Denver author Gregory Hill, a library book-buyer and part-time musician, was a finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award; the winners, as determined by public voting, would get a Penguin Group publishing contract and a sweet $15,000 advance. Cut to the chase: Hill, one of two hopeful authors awarded nationally, won in the adult fiction category.

And now, months later, he'll appear, triumphant, at the Tattered Cover tonight to read from the winning book: East of Denver, the somewhat comic saga of a man and his senile father struggling together in the middle of nowhere, on Colorado's eastern plains. That's close to home in more ways than one, and based on the prize-winning public feedback, it promises to be be a very entertaining read.

Meet Hill at 7:30 p.m. tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover Colfax; for more information visit the Tattered Cover online or call 303-322-7727.
