Twenty most expressionless Furry costumes at Rocky Mountain Fur Con

More than 800 people -- most of them dressed in costumes or not adverse to snuggling up to one -- flocked to the DoubleTree Hotel this weekend for Rocky Mountain Fur Con 2012: Furry Apocalypse, an unabashed annual celebration of Furry fandom. But while the anthropomorphic lifestyle offers a lot of costume options for those who are so inclined, it doesn't offer a lot of facial expressions. Photographer Jim Wills stopped by this weekend to capture attendees in various states of joy, anger, sorrow and elation -- none of which you can tell from these photos. Some of these "expressionless" fursuits are very much smiling. I'm good friends with the cheetah at #17 and his suit is definitely smiling. The picture was just at a bad angle. Fursuit performers also convey using body language but that's apparently too difficult to photograph for Westword. Stay classy guys.

Ok, that was entirely hurtful and disrespectful to not only the people in the fursuits, but to the creators of them as well. Especially when you say emotionless. Because of one persons emotionless critique of their own opinion is why it makes it hurtful

If this is the best you could come up with, "Hey look at the freaks because they are eeermmm... expressionless!" Then you must not have come across anything worth reporting negatively so you are just trying to poke holes in something.

Seriously, "animals" should have expressions? Just saw a neofur spill a 32 ounce root beer into Westword box. Didn't laugh or cry. It is the upcoming apocalypse.

Eh. At least they're trying. And really Show and Tell what did you expect? They're costumes, they're going to have fixed expressions. Last I check most costumes do.

Wow, way to take something fun like a niche convention and write such a mean spirited and unfunny little article about it. You don't seem to write with the air of someone who actually cares about their audience or the subject their are writing about. Shame on you for reporting on something unique in such an unprofessional manner. Furrys are weird, sure. That doesn't mean their events deserve your slander.
