Thanks, Twist & Shout! Here's how to surreptitiously introduce your kids to vinyl
We all want to raise our kids right, and sometimes that means we hope they'll embrace our beloved traditions, like reading box scores and the Sunday comics, and eating Froot Loops while waiting for the Saturday-morning cartoons to come on. And like hunting through a bin of vinyl records.
Mommy, mommy, can I have this one?
Twist & Shout can help you meet at least one of those goals: The East Colfax emporium is hosting a Kids End of Summer Contest with a vinyl-shopping requirement.
Your offspring can draw, right? Here's how it works: Bring the kids, ages fifteen and under, to the store, and set them loose in the vintage vinyl. If they pick something out, they'll get a nice 15 percent discount on their purchase and a nice, big paper bag to put it in. Once home, all they have to do is draw something on the bag (preferably while the record spins, though that's not expected).
Can I take a bath in baked beans, too?
They'll have until September 15 to return the decorated bag to Twist & Shout, to enter it in a contest to win store gift certificates. Prize-winners will be announced during the week of September 17, and every entry will be on display in the entryway. Way to give a new twist to tradition, Twist.
