10 things to do for $10 (8 free!) this weekend, November 9-11

Categories: Things To Do

As stores start to get in the holiday spirit, your wallet begins to get a work-out. Fortunately, you won't have to spend much this weekend to stay entertained. You can ignore the upcoming holidays and pretend it's still Halloween at a Second Halloween art show, dance like a fool in a flash mob, attend a Dangerous Theatre performance, and do much more without paying more than $10. And eight of the events on our featured list are free!

For more events, visit the Westword calendar, and if you know of other bargains this weekend, share them in the comments section.

Art by Craft at RedLine (Friday, free)
While craft projects like knitting are often separated from fine arts, they'll intersect tonight at this exhibit put on by the Denver Handmade Alliance. Eighteen local craft artists will display their work; the evening will also include music from Land Lines and beer from Breckenridge Brewery and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Party and shop at the same time!

J Audrey Hair Studio Premiere Night at MegaFauna (Friday, free)
Celebrate J Audrey Hair Studio's new location tonight by dressing up in '50s and '60s attire, eating some free food, and getting a tour of the cool digs. Then head to the Meadowlark for an unofficial after-party at the completely free Mile High Soul Club.

Second Halloween Second Friday at Crash 45 (Friday, free)
If you're desperately dreading the upcoming holiday season, live in denial a little bit longer at this Second Halloween art show. Pick your costume off the floor and wear it while you browse art by Mad Maximilian Shiffman and High Fructose Porn Syrup, trick or treat for candy, and avoid the warm, fuzzy holidays for another night.

Debut at the McNichols Building (Friday, free)
Tonight is your chance to see the revamped McNichols Building for free! This open house will feature a variety of exhibits and installations, from an outdoor installation mural by Sao Paulo street artist Highraff to a light-box installation from Denver's Collin Parson. Check out the transformed building and celebrate one of the last bashes of Denver Arts Week.

Comfort in the Arms of the Damned at Dangerous Theatre (Friday-Sunday, $10)
Denver's Dangerous Theatre just lowered the prices of tickets for all of its shows to just $10, so now you can enjoy the newest production, Comfort in the Arms of the Damned, on a budget. The show, a world premiere, is described as a "psychological demon play" about a character named Tobias as he seeks to free himself from the grasp of a psychological demon in the form of a childhood friend, Xavier.
