Charming author, cultural philosopher, satirist and NPR commentator David Sedaris talks pretty to sellout audiences year after year in Denver, filling auditoriums with unabashed cultists who simply love the little, wise man to death. Early next year, he's trying something different: Sedaris will play Denver for a series of eight performances January 21 through January 27 in the cozier quarters of the Garner Galleria Theatre in the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

Now's the time to act. Tickets -- which could make lovely holiday gifts -- are now on sale for Works in Progress: An Intimate Evening with David Sedaris, during which he'll share essays that he might include in Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls, a new book scheduled for release in April. Denver audiences will have the rare chance to help determine the book's final edit. Yes, it's really that good.

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. daily, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, January 27, and tickets, $35, should go quickly; visit the Denver Center online or call 303-893-4100 for reservations.
