Botanic Gardens at Chatfield (open nightly at 5:30 p.m. through January 1, $5-12)
At the Botanic Gardens' Chatfield location, spectators can enjoy the beautiful open space decorated with thousands of lights. A tractor and Model T display will be illuminated, along with the site's 1880s Hildebrand Ranch homestead. A holiday craft station and hot beverages offer a place for kids and adults alike to warm up on the trek. New to this year's Trail of Lights is the addition of a skating rink, at just $5 per person.
Zoo Lights
Denver Zoo (open nightly at 5:30 p.m. through January 2, $6-10)
With 38 acres of illuminated space right in the city, Zoo Lights turns the animal habitat into a festively lit sculpture park. Spectators wander the zoo after dark and enjoy 150 animal shapes and a month-long Festival of Lanterns.
Tuesday, December 4
City of Aurora's Holiday Tree Lighting
Aurora Municipal Center (4:30 p.m., free)
Strolling carolers and live entertainment will be on hand as the City of Aurora illuminates it's big Christmas tree for the season. All are welcome to enjoy the festivities and warn beverages, along with the Aurora History Museum's Festival of Wreaths.
