"The star of Starlet is the latest beautiful Hemingway -- Dree Hemingway, Mariel Hemingway's daughter," says Brit Withey. "It's her first film, I think, and she's very good; there's great acting across the board."

The story "is a bit rough at first," he concedes. "It's about a group of loosely tied together people who live in the same house and are wasting away time. Basically, they dabble in drugs, they dabble in porn to make money, but they specialize in doing nothing whatsoever. But then one day, the Dree Hemingway character goes to a yard sale and picks up a vase to decorate her bleak room, and inside it, she finds a whole bunch of money. So she goes back to the house, which belongs to this old woman who's practically a recluse -- she almost seems to be a hoarder. And they establish this really reluctant friendship."

In answer to your unasked question: No, the young woman doesn't return the money. However, Withey says, "she sort of draws this older woman back out into the world and back into life -- and she uses the money to do that. It's a really touching relationship between these two really opposite-end characters."
