The Narrators, holiday edition, examines "The Gift" tonight at Deer Pile

As the year draws to an end, the Narrators is growing into its cozy home at the Deer Pile. The thoroughly modern storytelling session, co-hosted by Andrew Orvedahl and Robert Rutherford, brings a chorus line of local creatives with a certain verbal panache -- comics, writers, musicians and the uncategorizable -- to share true stories with a theme onstage. This month's version kicks off at 8 p.m. tonight.

Appropriately, the talk will revolve around the theme of "The Gift," which means the tales could range from hysterically funny to unexpectedly poignant. And the beauty of it is that you never know which you're going to get. Guests include comedian/musician Chella Negro, standup Ben Roy, Denver Zine Library director Kelly Shortandqueer and a sweet host of other Denver voices.
