Untitled #53 (Aftermath) at the Denver Art Museum (Friday, $10)
The Denver Art Museum's Untitled series always brings an interesting lineup of entertainment to the museum. From a talk by photographer Laura Letinsky to a Buntport Theater performance, a musical offering from Paper Bird's Esme Patterson, art tours, hot chocolate and tunes from DJ Jonny, tonight's installment -- dedicated to the theme "Aftermath" -- will have something for everyone.
Ladysaurus at the Deer Pile (Friday, $10 suggested donation)
A female-oriented battle of the bands (more like battle of the solo artists) will commence tonight with performances by Laura Goldhamer, Brittany Williams and Betsy Lay. Post-show, the audience will vote on a winner to move onto the next round and possibly compete in the Ultimate Ladysaurus Championship at the end of the year. But all three of these acts sounds like winners; hear for yourself.
Atom the Amazing Zombie Killer at the Denver Art Society (Friday, free)
Tonight the Denver Art Society will screen local camp thriller Atom the Amazing Zombie Killer -- for free -- at an evening that also features appearances by the cast and crew as well as Lloyd Kaufman of the Troma films. The film follows the story of Atom, a bowling aficionado and -- you guessed it -- zombie killer. The evening -- filled with bowling and blood -- promises to be a killer, too.
Art of Winter at Various Locations (Friday, free)
This snow-inspired art extravaganza opens tonight with exhibitions including a Colorado Ski and Snowboard Makers showcase at Row 14 Bistro and Wine Bar, Upcycled Ski & Snowboard art galleries downtown, and more. Check out the website for a full listing of events, and celebrate the art that slides down mountains every winter.
Steers and Statue at the Brown Palace (Friday, free)
Even if you're too broke to attend the National Western Stock Show, you can see the NWSS's Grand Champion Steer at one of the fanciest places in town today. The steer will parade through afternoon tea at the swanky hotel, where you can even get your photo taken with it. No bull.
