RISE at 1919 Gallery (Saturday, $5)
Don't want the party to end when the bars close at 2 a.m. on Saturday morning? It doesn't have to. This after-hours bash begins at 2 a.m., with house music from Chicago's Studio Casual and producer Alex D. Wolf. Make your Friday fun last well into Saturday.
Bad Shadow Affair at Lost Lake (Saturday, free)
The Bad Shadow Affair is back for the first time in 2013, bringing with it another impeccable lineup of poetry readings. This evening's performers include Michelle Naka Pierce, Lawrence Giffin, Nick Gulig and Dan Beachy-Quick, who will all be at the bar reading from their work. Drink it all in.
Postscript Symposium at the MCA Denver (Sunday, $5)
The MCA will present two art-related lectures and performances today featuring artists from its Postscript exhibition, each for only $5. The first features James Hoff discussing viral language, followed by a performance by Will Holder from his journal F.R.DAVID. The second is a series of three talks: Craig Dworkin on conceptual art, Seth Kim-Cohen on other people's styles, and Nick Thurston on publishing and contemporary art. Buy tickets in advance for these special presentations; even if you attend both, you'll only spend ten bucks.
Vinyl O Vinyl Record Swap at the Deer Pile (Sunday, free)
Dust off your vinyl and bring it to the Deer Pile's Sunday record swap. It's a great place to trade (or buy) rare record finds as well as art, books and zines -- and there's no admission fee to get in the door. Simply show up, browse what's sure to be an eclectic collection from Growler Records, and then go home and listen to your new/old treasures.
Cannapages Birthday Spectacular at the Aztlan Theatre Bar (Sunday, $5)
Celebrate all things green at Cannapages.com's three-year birthday party. The weed website is throwing a bash complete with edibles and musical performances by Whiskey Tango, Buggsy Mogues and Wonderlic. Non-card carrying people are welcome to attend, but must RSVP in advance to MonthlyMeetAndGreet@gmail.com or message MMJMeetAndGreet on Facebook.
