Meet the Open Screen gang at the Oriental Theater.
Every great filmmmaker has to start somewhere. In fact, even the not-so-great ones need a place to air their cinematic laundry, and that's the reason for Open Screen Night Denver, a monthly event at the Oriental Theater that's open to anyone who dabbles in the art of short film and videotape.

It's simple: Arrive at 7 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every month to submit your shorty and schmooze with fellow videographers; at 8 p.m., the entries roll and prizes are given out for the most popular works. Think "Open Mic Night meets Gong Show meets Sundance," as the event tease goes. And tonight's 2013 opener features not only a new slate of videos, but a new projector to show them.

Admission is $5 at the door. For details visit the Facebook event page.
