10 things to do for $10 in Denver this weekend (9 free!), February 1-3
Mile High Soul Club at Beauty Bar (Saturday, free)
We've endorsed the always awesome, free soul night by DJs Tyler Jacobson, DogBoy and Creeper Steve before. And tonight's version could be even better, because Mile High Soul Club is moving to a space with an even bigger dance floor. The soul, funk and R&B dance party is moving from the Meadowlark to Beauty Bar, so be sure to check out the new digs while you dance the night away.
Screw Your Resolutions at Fado Irish Pub (Saturday, free)
Whether you resolved to work out, go on a diet or cut down on drinking at the start of 2013, Fado Irish Pub is urging you to just say "screw it." At this Screw Your Resolutions party, the pub will offer a plethora of ways to indulge in vices -- from complimentary junk food to drink specials. Wear your workout clothes to win prizes at this indulgent party.
The World According to Jazz: Jeff Jenkins at the Denver Central Library (Saturday, free)
Fresh City Life's weekend music series continues this Saturday with a special performance from Jeff Jenkins. The talented jazz pianist has worked with plenty of musical greats over the years, and at this afternoon show he'll combine jazz with pop, rock and world music.
Football Free at the Mercury Cafe (Sunday, $5-10)
If you want to hang out at a place where the Super Bowl will not rule, retreat into the cozy Mercury Cafe for a night free of football. You can take a Jitterbug and Lindy Hop class for $10, and at 8 p.m. the Raucous and Wild Poetry Slam will get started; admission is just $5. See a more creative competition that doesn't involve dudes in helmets at this anti-sports evening.
Crafting with Kitty at Kitty Mae Millinery & Accessories (Sunday, free)
Get crafty on Sunday with other people who'd rather create art than watch football. Kitty Mae will supply glue guns for this fun crafts party; bring materials to share and snacks if you'd like them. Hang out, create something, and be blissfully ignorant to the score.
