Top five picks for the Boulder International Film Festival from Kathy and Robin Beeck
2) On the Road
February 16, 9:30 p.m., Boulder Theater
KB:This is the film coming out soon with Kristin Stewart and Viggo Mortenson and just a lot of other great actors, and because of the Naropa Institute here and the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, that film will fit right in the community. So we're really excited to be screening On the Road as well.
1) Trash Dance
February 17, 10 a.m., Boulder Theater
KB:This is a film where it kind of combines the ideas of recycling with art. There's a choreographer who went into a trash removal facility in the East Coast and she wanted to choreograph a dance program for these trash workers, and they were really skeptical about it but she ends up taking, like, six months to get to know them and work with them and they choreograph a big show that involves not only the trash workers but a lot of the equipment they use to remove trash. It's just beautiful -- the whole community comes out, including all their family and friends and everybody and it's just a fabulous show.
Robin Beeck:It won the Audience Award at Silverdocs this year.
The Boulder International Film Festival starts today and runs through Sunday, February 17. Find out more information here.
