A precursor to Westword's signature Artopia on February 23, tonight's Whiteout Fashion Show caps the Art of Winter by putting the spotlight on local couture. This inaugural fashion display features clothing and accessories from Westword MasterMinds Brandi Shigley, Mona Lucero and Deb Hendriksen of Equillibrium, along with a cast of designers and boutiques from around Colorado. To prep for the big show, here's a roll call of who will be hitting the runway tonight.

Goldyn
Named Best High-Style Boutique in Westword's Best of Denver 2012, Goldyn never fails to deliver, showing and selling pieces from internationally renowned labels large and small. Owner Vanessa Barcus has a keen eye for unique pieces, and uses her high-profile couture connections to feature special trunk shows and in-store stops by up-and-coming and established designers.

Common Era
Another Westword Best of winner, Common Era's story begins way in 1991, when owner Debra Mazur opened her first store on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, selling hand-picked vintage apparel. Now, more than two decades later, Mazur's two locations -- there's one in Denver, too -- are a fusion of retro and current trends, giving local shoppers the best of both worlds.

Brandi Shigley/B. Shigley Designs
A local couture guru, musician and small business owner who was part of the first class of Westword MasterMinds in 2005, Brandi Shigley recently reactivated her handbag design business -- which will be showing at Whiteout. But she is known not only for her fashion sense; her latest endeavor, "Do What You Love. Love What You Do," has Shigley teaching others how to turn their passion into reality.
