10 things to do for $10 this weekend (7 free!), March 1-3

Get weird!
Ever since the Harlem Shake snagged the Internet's attention, it seems that video after video of frat boys, Army officers and various mammals at Sea World wiggling uncontrollably to Baauer's dance track by the same name have been constantly appearing in our Facebook newsfeeds. If you've secretly desired to make your own version and not had the guts to ask your friends to participate, here's your chance: This Saturday, Red Rocks becomes Colorado's Harlem Shake central as Colorado Concerts hosts a free live taping of the dance. But if you'd rather just hit the traditional dance floor, watch a documentary or see some local art, we've got a great list of events lined up for the weekend, too -- all of them bargains at $10 or less, and many free.

Paileontology - Vintage Lunch Box Exhibitat Blue Dot Studio (Friday, free)
If you carried a tin Gremlins lunchbox as a kid, or maybe a Josie and the Pussycats lunch pail as a purse in the '90s, or you're just a fan of the shiny and nostalgic, this show is for you. Blue Dot Gallery welcomes all ages through its doors tonight and tomorrow afternoon to ogle more than a hundred plastic and metal lunch boxes spanning several decades of popular culture.

"Tie One On" March First Friday Tenth Anniversary at Tracks (Friday, $5-$7)
Put on by Babes Around Denver, the ten-year edition of this monthly night celebrates one of Denver's best all-inclusive dance parties. DJs Shannon, Markie, Tatiana and Blaque Gurl throw down a mix of new- and old-school jams as GLBTQ folks and allies alike mark a decade of Denver's longest-running women's dance party. There will be free appetizers from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and special giveaways for the best dressed -- tonight's "Tie One On" theme encourages top hats, ties and any interpretation of formal-wear that partygoers fancy.

Sound City at Sie FilmCenter (Friday, $7-$10)
Kicking off a week of late-night showings at Sie FilmCenter, tonight's opening of Sound City is a must-see for music fanatics and gear heads. Tracing the roots of an unassuming warehouse music studio in the San Fernando Valley, this documentary links up with several of rocks' biggest players -- Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, Butch Vig -- to tell the story of how some of the greatest albums of all time were made.

Mile High Soul Club at Beauty Bar (Saturday, Free)
This free monthly dance party is built on nothing but soul. Lipgloss co-founder and all-around Denver DJ Tyler Jacobson spins the best in Northern Soul, Funk and R&B, alongside cohorts DJ Dogboy and Creeper Steve. Dress to impress and wear your dancing shoes, because this party attracts a stylish bunch who keep the floor jumping all night long.

Harlem Shake video at Red Rocks Amphitheatre (Saturday, Free)
Want to participate in the latest viral Internet phenomenon? Colorado Concerts presents an afternoon of shaking it for the camera. All ages are invited to this free filming of the Harlem Shake, meeting up next to the stage at Red Rocks Amphitheatre at 11:45 a.m. with filming starting at noon. Crazy costumes and outrageous props are encouraged.
