The Women + Film Voices Film Fest breaks for a chick flick

The annual Women + Film Voices Film Festival officially opened yesterday, offering a well-curated sampler of feature films, shorts and documentaries -- by, for and about women -- that continues through Sunday. But this afternoon, the fest will kick back a little by presenting a bona fide chick-flick matinee screening of Rob Reiner's sophisticated comedy When Harry Met Sally.

This, film buffs, is the chick flick as it ought to be: With a witty script by Nora Ephron and the glorious casting of Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, its romantic repartee recalls the classic comedies of an earlier age, couched in utterly contemporary terms -- circa 1989.

When Harry Met Sally screens today at 2:30 p.m. at the Sie FilmCenter, and the $5 entry fee ensures that you'll have something left for popcorn. Looking for something more serious? Women + Film will also present Yogawoman at 4:30 p.m. (a live yoga session precedes the show at 3:30 p.m., if you'd like a stretch) and First Comes Marriage, a look at the modern family by film memoirist Nina Davenport (who will appear in person), at 7 p.m. Tickets for those events are $10 to $12.
