'Tis the season for movies under the stars, including this Thursday's free, bike-in screening of the 2007 Spanish-American drama Under the Same Moon. But this week is full of many more great free events, including a documentary screening about mediums around the world and an art show from the Biennial of the Americas. Here are three of our favorites; as always, the Westword calendar features hundreds of other events around town. And feel free to share more cheap things to do in the comments section.

FIRST DRAFT opening at the McNichols Building (Tuesday)
The Biennial of the Americas is packed with great events, but one of the most anticipated is FIRST DRAFT, the Cortney Lane Stell-curated show investigating the relationship between the artistic process and drafting through the work of 22. The show will open tonight along with a bigger exhibition, DRAFT URBANISM, which will bring together art, architecture and film through a series of installations and panel discussions throughout the city.

Tuning In at Awaken Healing Center (Wednesday)
Learn about messages from the other side in this fascinating documentary that will screen as part of Awaken Healing Center's monthly movie night. Tuning In delves into the cases of six mediums around the world who appear to channel messages from the great beyond. Popcorn will be provided, but bring your own drinks.

Under the Same Moon at Civic Center Park (Thursday)
Bike to Civic Center Park to watch La Misma Luna under the stars tonight. The 2007 Spanish/American drama follows a young Mexican boy who travels to America to find his mother. Bring blankets to sit on while you enjoy the film, as well as a few bucks for food-truck eats if you get hungry.

Obviously free is not necessarily good. Soiled Dove Saturday July 20 if you want real entertainment. Cheers
