One reliable means of free entertainment, as Jimmy Stewart discovers in the 1954 film Rear Window, is to spy on your neighbors. But you won't have to resort to such voyeuristic methods this week to have fun. Instead, you can watch a screening of the Hitchcock classic, catch theater previews for the upcoming season at the Jones Theatre, or see an art show -- all for free. Share news of more free events in the comments section and, as always, check out the Westword calendar for a complete listing of activities in Denver this month.

Jason Reno | keep an ear to the ground at Hinterland (Thursday)
Hinterland consistently puts on intriguing, thought-provoking art shows, and tonight's opening will reveal another great exhibit. The gallery will host a reception for Jason Reno's keep an ear to the ground, which mirrors the artist's feeling of displacement living between Iowa and Denver over the past year, all through the exploration of making multimedia art objects.
